10,000 English troops were sent to Glasgow in 1919. Photograph showing tanks and soldiers billeted in the Saltmarket area of Glasgow in the weeks following the battle of George Square on 31 January 1919. Government fears over heightened political and industrial tensions following the battle of George Square led to the deployment of troops and tanks on the streets of Glasgow. An estimated total of 10000 English troops were sent to Glasgow in the immediate aftermath of the battle of George Square. This was in spite of a full battalion of Scottish soldiers being stationed at Maryhill barracks in Glasgow at the time. No Scottish troops were deployed, with the government fearing that fellow Scots, soldiers or otherwise, would go over to the workers' side if a revolutionary situation developed in Glasgow. English troops were transported from England and stationed in Glasgow specifically to combat this possible scenario.

Which has been achieved with 30% of them living under the poverty line. Not to mention the Scottish people having the worst health in Europe. Why so the chances of us voting for indepenance is unlikely as most of us have more to worry about than politics. This why we need to take the truth out of politics and present it to the man on the street and make them realise if they do not demand and vote for Indepenance they and every one that lives in Scotland will each lose a "£230,000 - Save the Scottish token"
Are you prepared to loose £200,000 in the next 30 years yes at the lowest oil price per barrel would mean the 43 million barrels of oil still to come out the North Sea will generate a minimum of a trillion pounds, if so every man woman and child in Scotland will forfiet £200,000 in 30 years which is £6666 a year. Calculation £1000,000,000,000,000 divided by Scotland's current population of 5,117,000 = £200,000 per each or average annual loss over 30 years = £6666 each.

There is public outcry about this bail out and talk of the Northern Rock being Nationalised. Therefore if every person living in Scotland has lost £1302 per annum why is there not a public outcry for Independance ? because the truth was classified top secret
1979 Devolution Referendum - 52% said YES Westminster said NO on 1 March 1979 the People were asked this question? 'Do you want the provisions of the Scotland Act 1978 to be put into effect ? '
Scotland voted in favour of devolution by 52% to 48% - but only 32.9% of the electorate had joined the majority. The Act was repealed the following month.
